Meet Dr. Henry Delclos

On Being a Pediatric Dentist

Pediatric dentistry has given me the opportunity to not only motivate children to learn and maintain good oral hygiene, but also help mold them into adult patients who are comfortable in dental settings for the rest of their lives.

Every day I care for a variety of patients with unique dental needs, emotional concerns, and behavior types. This can be challenging professionally and personally, and I find that I grow in both areas as I learn what works for each person. I am constantly honing my communication skills, seeking new ways to reach and engage with my young patients, reassuring them, encouraging them, and getting them excited about their dental health.

I employ what is known as the “Tell-Show-Do” technique to teach my young patients. This helps a child understand why their treatment is necessary and how it will be performed. The more a child knows and understands about their dental needs and how we care for them, the more at ease they are with their care. This hopefully translates into their attitude toward oral healthcare as an adult, too.

Education and Commitment to Continuing Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology, pre-dental, University of Houston
  • Doctorate of Dental Surgery, University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston
  • Pediatric Dental Specialty, University of Kentucky

Every year I seek out continuing education offerings locally, regionally, and nationally. It’s essential I remain aware of new treatment techniques, innovative products, developing technologies, and different philosophies. Doing so ensures I am able to always provide my patients with the highest quality of care.

Personal Life

I’m a native of Tarragona, Spain, and now live in Sugar Land. Susan, my wife, is an orthodontist, and we have four children: Julian, Chloe, Sofia, and Adriana. We have four-legged family members, too. Our two dogs: Picasso and Layla, and our two cats: Penny and Minnie. Outside the office, you’ll often find me spending quality time with my family. That being said, I also enjoy fishing, running, relaxing at the beach, and escaping into a good book. I also enjoy volunteering at my children’s school and with our local church, as well.
